Instagram AMA S6 Ep 6 AI Content Creation Drawbacks

AI and content creation for Quiet Creatives - my personal opinion

1- AI is renowned for getting things wrong. You can’t trust it completely... which means the second you use fully AI gen images you flag to your followers that you are probably using it elsewhere, which like it or not will have them questioning IF THEY can TRUST YOU.

2- If see an image which is obviously AI  it tells me that the person couldn't be bothered creating the image or video themselves.  Honestly, you can re-use images, and if you don't have bandwidth to create new ones I think you should. Showing that you don't care enough to create your own image or don't respect image makers enough to pay for them is a serious turn off.

3- When I see an AI image it tells me that a creator uses AI elsewhere ... which makes me not trust them and undermines any value I may have placed on the content they are sharing.  Think about it this way.  How often do you find that AI gets it wrong? you ask a question, and it comes back with something patently incorrect. There are businesses out there at the moment which are creating thousands of bog posts using the tech which rank highly in SEO and are being shown to you as the first or second option when you do a search, where the content isn't even being checked.  The classic example of this is something that happened to me recently.  I searched for if rats eat flowers, and the number one blog post that came back was from some business that sold seeds telling me that yes, they do, and these are the sorts of flowers you can grow to ATTRACT RATS! ffs.  I mean, really?

3- Think about what using AI for image generation does for your branding and the way your brand is perceived. What would your ideal customers think, if they know you were using robots to make pictures and videos for them?

If your creative thing is fundamentally about real things like nature, nurturing, food, seeds, animals, plants, pottery, craft, all the things I know Quiet Creatives turn to, then the people who are your audience will no doubt value the authenticity that comes with those subject matters.  To visibly use AI will likely confuse your people about what your core brand values are.

4- Similarly, if your customers value sustainability, they will know that AI is terrible for the environment.  If part of your ethos is looking after the environment, and yet you use AI imagery, your brand message will be very confusing for those in the know.
